About Overraw

The honest Ibadan guide.

Real reviews from real people who actually visited. Built in Ibadan, for Ibadan.

Why we exist

In 2024, Mimi called her friend at 6am from her hostel because she was scared that if something happened to her, nobody would find her quickly enough.

She had been self-medicating for four days. She thought it was malaria. When she finally reached a hospital she had never heard of before that morning, they treated her immediately without asking about money. The bill, when it came, was nothing close to what she feared.

What scared her after, thinking clearly for the first time in days, was this: she had no way to know that hospital existed until an emergency brought her there. No reviews. No ratings. No way to know. What if she had gone somewhere else?

That question is why Overraw exists.

What Overraw is

Overraw is a business discovery platform built for Ibadan. Restaurants, hotels, clinics, lounges — any business where your experience matters and honest information makes the difference.

Every review on Overraw comes from someone who actually visited. Our reviewers upload the receipt. The review goes live after we verify the visit was real. No business can pay us to make a review say something it should not. No business can ask us to remove a review because they did not like what it said.

We are not a sponsored content platform with a reviews feature.
We are a reviews platform. That distinction is the whole point.

What we will never do

We will never accept money from a business in exchange for a positive mention in our content. If a business is featured on Overraw it paid for visibility — not for a recommendation.

The line between what we are paid for and what we genuinely recommend will always be visible and always be honest.

No paid reviews

Businesses cannot pay to improve their rating or remove honest feedback.

No hidden promotions

If content is paid for it is labelled. Editorial and advertising are always separate.

No disappearing reviews

A review only comes down if we find evidence it was fraudulent — not because a business complained.

Why Ibadan first

We did not start in Ibadan because it was the easiest market. We started here because this is Mimi's city, and because Ibadan deserves a guide built by someone who genuinely knows it — not a platform expanding from Lagos because the numbers looked good.

We are not trying to be everywhere. We are trying to be genuinely useful here before we earn the right to go anywhere else.
